As Academic Director for DSkate, Kinesiology and Health Science faculty member Dr. Mike Riddell is part of an integrated “hockey + diabetes” sports-education program for diabetic youth hockey players (players between the ages of 7 and 17 years and their families). On the ice, DSkate works with players to improve their hockey skill development including skating, stickhandling, skill and stamina. On and off the ice, the DSkateU education program is designed to provide players and their families with up-to-date and comprehensive information on diabetes and exercise.
